WebByleth has a really bad base magic (only 6) which is going to make doing any damage with spells pretty hard. Comparatively Byleth has 13 base Str which is the best in the game. Weapons are already stronger than magic in this game, even if you go into a magic class Byleth will consistently be doing more damage with weapons.
